THE PERSONAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The Personal Learning Environment (PLE) is an innovative educational model that allows students to organise, personalize and control their learning pathway. The PLE of eCampus4learn is embodied in a set of tools that facilitates access, aggregation, configuration and coordination of integrated (formal and informal) learning experiences, representing a very useful tool for both learners and professors.

The structure of this learning environment aims to develop personal strategies for managing the various information flows to support learning, precisely because it is created by the learners themselves in the process of designing and organising their education, going beyond the traditional standardized educational models.

Within the eCampus4learn PLE, the students play a central role and is encouraged to learn autonomously, allowing them to structure their learning pathway in a personalized manner based on their needs and educational requirements.

The PLE of eCampus4learn consists of a series of interactive tools and instruments that allow the student and teachers to customize their experience:

  • the VLE (access via SSO, lesson archive, forum, blog, online certificates);
  • the e-Portfolio (CV, sources, career and titles, web disk, social);
  • the Web 2.0 Tools (archive, webmail);

which can remain in the user’s possession once the learning pathway has been completed.

This approach represents a shift towards a new educational model in which students make connections between a number of basic elements, digital or otherwise, aggregating, mixing and matching them, thus shaping their own educational path. eCampus4learn offers technological equipment and a wide range of resources to help students develop their potential, emphasizing the importance of their increasingly active role. With eCampus4learn, learning is not limited to a specific time and space, but is embodied in a continuous process.

ANYTIME, ANYWHERE ACCESS

Taking into account the dynamism of modern society and the ever-increasing need to travel, eCampus4learn has succeeded in overcoming the physical barriers of classrooms and home walls, allowing access to course materials, test results, the lesson archive, the forum and all other functions of the AWP 24 hours a day and from any device running Windows, Android, Symbian, RIM, iOS.

SOCIAL LEARNING

The introduction of the social as a teaching tool in the ePortfolio allows for fruitful interaction between students, who participate in the learning process in a pleasant and natural way, exchanging information, ideas and helping each other in their intellectual growth process, as they can:

  • Share educational experiences and interact with other users;
  • Communicate directly with professors and tutors for educational purposes;
  • Exchange teaching materials and course information.

PERSONALIZED LEARNING

eCampus4learn’s educational offer is focused on personalizing the educational experience and therefore makes use of both the flexibility of the content and the interaction with it on the part of the student, who thus reaps all the benefits for optimal results. The user can:

  • Organize your activities using agenda, webmail and notification functions;
  • Share resources;
  • Learn using innovative and user-friendly technology;
  • Take full advantage of social networking to engage in discussions with teachers and other students.

RAS (STUDENT ACTIVITY REGISTER)

To further facilitate the professors’ work and help them keep track of their activities at all times, eCampus4learn provides a self-compilatory activity register, which can take the data concerning the individual professor from the other sections of the VLE and automatically compile a register with all the activities performed. Furthermore, the RAD allows the professors to keep track of their situation at all times, accompanied by personal statistical averages for both the faculty and the university (number of appointments made, seminars convened, days spent compiling minutes, number and status of CFU…).
